Lewes: Local election statistics – Greens dishonest or incompetent

June 1, 2011 9:07 am 0 comments

One of our neighbourhood teams led by campaigner Jonathan Spencer recently met  a professional mathematician on the door step, someone who was annoyed at how the Sussex Express appeared to have become and extension of Greenleaf and could not get his letter on this subject published. He told us, one of my hobby horses is the misleading use of bar and pie charts. “In recent campaign literature the Greens have been especially cavalier with numbers!  They print both a pie [...]

Younger supporters keep active

We were sent this photo of  Charlie: a younger supporter, at the recent ‘hardest hit’ march.  Which just shows that parties of the far left are still turning out banners.  Perhasp we should head the call of the SWP and look for what we have in common rather than our differences or would this be too radical an outlook.  The Tories and their friends the Liberals have always had one over on us because they don’t have the same kind [...]

Save our Libraries

Libraries are at the very heart of our communities, but many local authorities are being left with no choice but to close them due to the depth and frontloading of cuts being made to local authority budgets by the Tory-led Government. The effects will be felt across the country – reports suggest that up to 400 libraries could be facing closure, potentially resulting in up to 6,000 librarians losing their jobs. Closing and reducing access to libraries will remove or [...]

Our children’s future put at risk? All parents want the best for their children. That includes decent school buildings for their children to learn in. The quality of school buildings makes a real difference to children’s school experience. We need your support now to put pressure on the coalition to reverse their decision to scrap the Building Schools for the Future fund. Schools with temporary accommodation, or inadequate facilities, will hold back our children’s education. Do you have an issue Read [...]

An invitation to those under 27.

This Tory-led Government has launched an unprecedented attack on young people in our country. Lib Dem support is crucial to the success of huge Tory-driven cuts and attacks on our young people getting passed in Parliament. Many people who put their trust in the Lib Dems at the General Election didn’t vote for this, and are now having second thoughts….   • trebling tuition fees • chipping away at Sure Start • scrapping Educational Maintenance Allowances and the Future Read more [...]
