Talking to residents of Malling Street, looks like many of them have never seen a councillor , never mind actually get any of them to support them. As our campaigner Jonathan Spencer and his colleagues talked to people on the doorsteps canvassing for votes in the byelection, the same story gets told:

Traffic speeding at 40 50 and 60 mph in a 30mph zone, at times the road is almost impossible to cross. One resident said he felt that something would not be done until someone is killed. Jonathan Spencer is asking for you to join with our campaign and with local residents

MessageAs lead member on Transport for the East Sussex County Council, I am writing to ask you to support the introduction of traffic calming measures such as narrowing the road using extended kerbs and bollards to slow traffic, along the length of Malling Street in Lewes, from the Cuilfail Roundabout to earwig corner. Also the introduction of a raised zebra or pelican crossing to facilitate crossing this road for residents. Local residents are in danger from speeding traffic, local buildings are having loosened bricks and masonry because of the speed of larger vehicles and subsequent vibrations.
